JUDITH B. COLLINS Ms. Collins is a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and a consultant, speaker and writer on health policy, women's health care and nurse practitioner issues. She retired as Director of the MCV Women's Health Care at Stony Point and Associate Professor Emeritus of the Schools of Nursing and Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. She currently is actively involved in several community and professional organizations, boards and foundations. |
JULIA A. CONNALLY Ms. Connally retired after serving six years in the Virginia House of Delegates representing Arlington County. She was a member of the Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions, the Joint Commission on Health Care, and the Joint Subcommittee to Evaluate Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services and sponsored several legislative initiatives that focused on women's health. Currently, she is on the Commonwealth Transportation Board, Chairman of Virginia's long-range transportation planning initiative. She previously was the chair of the Arlington Community Services Board and Northern Virginia Area Health Education Center. |
MIRIAM A. BENDER Ms. Bender is an attorney who primarily works with non-profit organizations on issues regarding development and public policy. She previously taught at the University of St. Louis School of Law and served as Associate General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and in various positions at the Federal Trade Commission. She has served on the Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters of Virginia and of Charlottesville and Albemarle County and the Virginia Citizens Consumer Council. |
CHERYL BEVERSDORF Ms. Beversdorf is the Executive Director of the Coalition for Homeless Veterans in Washington, D.C. She previously used her training as a health communicator with clinical nursing background, as the founder and president of HealthonStage, where she created educational plays focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. Her prior employment was as a senior managing director at a national public relations firm, chief executive of three national health associations and a consultant and health educator for organizations in Northern Virginia. She is also the author of several articles regarding health communications and nursing. |
JULIE M. CILLO Julie M. Cillo is a partner with the law firm of Hall & Hall, devoting her practice to family law including issues of domestic violence, child custody, and other matters affecting a family during and after divorce. Ms. Cillo is a member of the Metropolitan Richmond Women’s Bar Association, the Richmond Academy of Medicine Alliance, and many other community organizations. She is a past recipient of the Virginia State Bar Outstanding Young Lawyer Award for her work as co-chair of the Women and Minorities Section of the Young Lawyers Conference Board Match program. Her husband is an emergency room physician in the Richmond area. |
Margaret Hardy Margaret Hardy is a shareholder of the firm of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller and a member of the Healthcare Practice Group. Her practice focuses on the defense of healthcare providers in medical malpractice actions. Margaret also regularly represents nurses, physicians, dentists, and other health care professionals before the Virginia Department of Health Professions licensing boards and provides advice to providers on issues related to reimbursement, HIPAA and regulatory compliance, and risk management. In addition to being an attorney, Margaret is a registered nurse and prior to law school worked on medical-surgical, psychiatric, and substance abuse units. She is a member of the American Associate of Nurse Attorneys, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and its Virginia Chapter, and the Metropolitan Richmond Women’s Bar Association, and other professional and community organizations. |
EDWINA DAVIS GARY Ms. Davis Gary recently retired as the Chief Executive Officer of the Peninsula Institute of Community Health. She previously worked with the Planning Council of Norfolk and the Eastern Virginia Health Systems Agency. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Primary Care Association, Community Care Network of Virginia, Newport News Alliance for Youth and Newport News Health Advisory Council. |
Robin E. Stombler Ms. Stombler is President of Auburn Health Strategies, LLC, a strategic and business development company serving health and science clients nationwide. Prior to founding Auburn Health Strategies, Ms. Stombler served as the Vice President of Government Affairs for the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and directed its Washington Office for over nine years. She previously served as a Senior Washington Associate for the American College of Surgeons. A veteran of Capitol Hill and state government, she has participated in a number of local community activities. Her company was awarded a Walk Visionary Award 2006 by the Foundation Fighting Blindness for its support of research efforts to find a cure for retinal degenerative diseases. Jefferson Medical College's Department of Health Policy appointed Stombler a Senior Scholar for 2006-2007, and she serves on the Board of Directors of the International Registry of Pathology. |
